Are you a good student? Here's bad news and good news.
Let's say you bring an impressive record of achievement into senior year. You start applying to competitive universities and the bad news is you realize that thousands of other students have records like yours – and they're applying to the same schools as you!
What's worse, you're told to write an essay to stand out in the applicant pool! And it's not like any history or social studies essay you've ever written!
Well, think of it the essay as pretty good news. After all, it's taken years to build your GPA. You've logged afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and summers working on extracurriculars, internships, and/or jobs and playing your heart out on the field, in the band, wherever.
Your essay is a million times easier! The Common App essay is just 650 words! And just because you haven't done it before doesn't mean you can't. TBH, maybe you just need someone to show you how. To connect with the story you're meant to tell and help you express it.
